JOHNNY D is Chocolate Covered World's® Transcending Lead Guitarist. JOHNNY D. CHEWOIAN comes from Whittier, Ca. He has always had a love for music, he started playing guitar among other instruments at the age of 8. Playing music with full intensity from the beginning. He went to LOS ANGELES COUNTY HIGH SCHOOL FOR THE ARTS at the age of 16. He performed in the jazz band (but not conforming to the standard B Bop tunes that were meant to be played), he played what came from his soul - and that was heavy, intense, unorthadox sounds that were not appreciated by the instructors that new of nothing other than the B Bop jazz tunes they drilled into the heads of the students there (JOHNNY D.) made those standards come alive and got praise by doing that by the judges at the competitions they played on a weekly basis at colleges around the state. Judges mentioning that this was the most exciting festivals n competitions they have been too, "Your energy is what we needed, it added excitement to these events" wanting JOHNNY D. to come back even though he was graduating. While at the same time he was getting the lowest grades & major critisism in the jazz classes back at the arts school, he laughed about the irony. This was the beginning of his musical vision.Then on a mission to complete his vision he got together with BYRON RICHARD to write some music and see if there was any magic, but it was better than that. It was!!!CHOCOLATE®... They wrote together continuously and realized they needed a rythym section to complete there vision n decided to call it Chocolate Covered World®.They went through dozens of players and two years later found CHAD n JANGO completing C.C.W. Now JOHNNY D. just enjoys "creating chocolate" as he says......"Music is life n life is an amazing Gift From GOD". Also being a jewelry designer of his high end jewelry co. called "Pieces Of Eight®", he says it is just another extension of his expression of life. "Limits are silly, the more that inpires you & you take in, the more energy you have". Last but definatley not least he balances his creative energy in music with training in Gracie Jui - Jitsui, Appreciating this art cause of its originality, and unmatched technique unlike anything he has seen or heard about before. He trains privately with RICKSON GRACIE whenever possible, Rickson is at the highest level in his art having over 400 professional victories & undefeated. His technique is considered to be the finest expression of Gracie Jui - Jitsui in the world. "I have the highest level of respect for Rickson.
